You have to do something unforgettable before you end up in the grave. We only live once, so we might as well go down with an epic story.
Edna Jane Hallett, an 83-year-old woman, opted for some drama with a robbery in the Chemung Canal Trust Company. This bank location is in Waverly, Tioga County, New York.
Waverly Police were called to the scene when the bank alarm started to go off at the Chemung Street location. Further investigation revealed that Hallett had exited the bank building and then began walking on Pennsylvania Avenue. The police arrested Hallett promptly as she was an easy catch with her slow walking speed.
She was escorted into custody and charged with 1st-degree robbery, a felony. The police took her to the Waverly Police Department, and her court proceeding will take place at Tioga County CAP.
New York State Police out of Owego and Chemung Canal Security assisted at the scene. The police are still investigating the events that took place during the robbery.
From this scenario, we can infer that Hallett was a courageous senior who felt inspired by the television series Good Girls, featuring three suburban mothers who rob a grocery store due to financial circumstances. This time it’s Good Granny because retirement savings can only go so far.
