British Police Officers Investigate Cereal Box Mystery

Cereal can ring in the morning in a nourishing way for many families but what do you do when the meal turns into a nuisance? A mother from Buckinghamshire was confused by unexpected cereal deliveries at her family’s doorstep. Morning smiles are turning into frowns with every new box on the front porch.

Hengameh Shahroodi, a mom-of-two from Amersham, informed the Bucks Free Press that she had been receiving a collection of cereal boxes outside her door for three weeks. She’s clueless about where they are coming from or whose behind the drop-offs.

After the first delivery, she reported the incident to the police officers because she was getting worried about her children’s safety. Shahroodi said: “It is kind of childish, it’s not very serious but it’s upsetting because we don’t know. I’ve started worrying if I can leave the kids alone.

“First time was at 8.30 p.m., there was a loud banging on the door and one big cereal box and a bit of milk and a spoon had been left outside. My husband went to the door and it was just behind the door. We thought it was a joke.”

The following week, there was another big cereal box along with smaller ones. “It was an arrangement in the front garden all over the place, and again banging at the front door. We heard someone running away and my husband went outside.

“He thinks he saw them but he’s not sure if it’s the same people. The third time was outside on the pavement, just one big box and smaller ones, all of them were open,” Shahroodi said.

The worried mom felt an unsettling feeling with the mysterious deliveries and she wasn’t able to eat the complimentary cereal in peace. After the third delivery, Shahroodi reached out on a neighbourhood app Nextdoor, requesting assistance from other residents in case they are missing some sort of clue with these deliveries. “What are they trying to tell us?” Shahroodi asked.

Other residents were guessing that it could be a prank to get the social media spotlight.

Police believe the repeated occurrence could escalate to Anti-Social Behaviour. “Third time they said they’ll level it up and they consider it harassment as it’s happening every week. They said it’s most likely to be some teenagers and if we can get some footage they can try to identify them with some schools in the area,” Shahroodi said.

“We just installed a camera bell on Sunday because we thought it will help and scare them off.”

Police are in the middle of an investigation, although it might take more than milk to wash down this act. Officers are hunting for clues to get to the person behind the intimidating drop-offs.
