Carjacking Suspect Arrested After Car Needed Jump Start

When attempting to steal a car, it’s vital that you go after a vehicle you know will start. Otherwise, you might end up looking for a boost just as one thief did.

An armed car theft was reported outside of St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington, at around 2:43 a.m. on November 17, 2022. The criminal broke into the vehicle only to realize that the car he tried to steal needed a jump start.

The Tacoma Police Department posted about the incident on Twitter. The tweet read: “2:43 a.m. a suspect attempted to steal a car from a victim at knifepoint, 1700 blk S. J St, not knowing the car needed a jump start.”

Authorities were able to arrest the 42-year-old suspect after he tried to run away. He was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit and was immediately booked for robbery in the first degree.

As for the victim, their car was given a jump start and they were able to drive home safely.
