Couple Breaks World Record for Speed Eating

Couple goals may be to eat for the size of a village but still maintain a lean, muscular physique. Miki Sudo and Nicholas Wehry, a married couple from Tampa, Florida, managed to juggle two extremes. They are capable of eating insane quantities of food that got them three new world record titles.

In one minute, Sudo bit through six coneys, beating the previous record of three. She got the record for the most hot dogs eaten in one minute.

Wehry had his eyes fixated on a different world record: the most hot dogs eaten in three minutes after chewing down 12 wieners. With a competitor count of nine hot dogs, Wehry set a new record.

Competitive eating is their form of bonding and with every bite, their relationship grows more wholesome. Initially, the couple met at a hotel gym four years ago before participating in a hot dog eating contest and the rest was history. “We actually met at the gym on the morning of the largest eating contest on our circuit,” Sudo said.

“Eating them competitively is a little bit different than eating them for Guinness World Records,” Wehry said. “Eat the hot dog down, while I’m doing that fold this [the bun] in half, dunk it, and remember… the bun is a drink. The bun is not food, it is a drink to chase your hot dog.”

The strong competitors may have a nail-biting food battle amongst themselves. “We want to beat each other, whether we verbalize it or not, which most of the time we do,” Wehry added.

Although the couple is grateful for their food achievements, they believe the greatest accomplishment has been meeting each other and birthing their son.
