Disney has been known to make dreams into reality but what if that magic extended to its engineering department as it attempted to create the impossible? It was recently rumored that the company filed a patent for a new roller coaster that completely jumps off the track.
Unfortunately, while a monstrously creative idea, the headline for the ride originated on a website that publishes satirical content about Disney’s theme parks. An Instagram account also shared a picture of the potential ride that read: “Disney Files Patent for Roller Coaster that Jumps Track.”
This fake story gained some wheels and had many wondering how such a ride could be created. Users took to the now-deleted post in droves. One person wrote: “How?? Wind gust variations, body weight variations, miss the track by 1/4 inch and everybody on that ride is dead!”
Another user commented: “Imagine the wrong weight distribution… Disney trying to crash their stock price further than it already has.”
A third commenter added: “A good amount of the rides at Disneyland kept breaking down this week. Please fix your current rides before you focus on a new one.”
Many also compared the fake project to the film Final Destination 3, which includes a violent roller coaster crash scene that has left several people terrified of the ride.
While it would be kind of crazy to see such an ambitious ride be created, it’s unlikely that any amusement park would want to touch it with a ten-foot pole. Think about all the headaches there would be for such an insane idea.
