There’s being clumsy and then there’s being a full-on idiot. A man who drove onto an airport’s tarmac to avoid a police chase has been arrested for crashing into the doors and windows of a terminal.
Deputies with the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office first responded to a report that a car had breached the airport’s fence and had driven onto the tarmac at Wilmington International Airport in North Carolina.
The vehicle then retreated from the tarmac and made its way to a terminal, ending up inside of it by crashing through the windows and doors. Fortunately, no one was reported to be injured after the accident.
The driver involved in the crash was identified as Tray Anthony Dvorak. The sheriff’s office confirmed that the 37-year-old was arrested and charged with assault, trespassing on airport property, speeding to elude arrest, disorderly conduct and resisting a government official.
Wilmington International Airport announced that it did remain open with minimal impact to its operations despite the crash.
