Drunk Driver Rides Walmart Scooter

Drunk driving any type of vehicle comes with a price. A Florida man learned that lesson the hard way when he was charged for allegedly drunk driving a motorized scooter inside a Walmart.

Aaron Gregory drove up to a Walmart in Melbourne, Florida, at 10 a.m. to cause all kinds of mischief. While inside, he nearly struck shoppers and crashed into multiple shelves and merchandise displays.

Officers from the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office were called to the store to handle “an intoxicated male on a motorized scooter.” A security guard for the store told police Gregory was driving a Walmart scooter “down the aisles, running into shelves and displays, and creating a danger for other patrons by almost striking them with the scooter.”

The 39-year-old was so intoxicated he could hardly stand on his own. He had to be transported from the store on a stretcher. An open bottle of Smirnoff vodka was found in Gregory’s backpack, located in the scooter’s basket.

Since a Walmart scooter hits speeds of 10 mph, it is considered a motor vehicle. Gregory was charged with driving under the influence, disorderly intoxication and possession of an open container of alcohol. As of now, he is being held in the Brevard County jail with a $3,000 bond.
