Foxes are cunning animals that use their stealth to their advantage. A two-legged fox that was spotted in a family’s garden might not have the easiest time being super sly.
Phil and Jane Carter have seen many foxes in their garden before but they’ve never come across a two-legged one. The couple, from Ilkeston in Derbyshire, captured footage of the animal, which only had its two front legs as it walked over their lawn.
The animals tend to be timid in shy away from humans but this intruder decided to make its stay worth it by remaining in their garden for almost an hour.
“My wife shouted, ‘quick, grab your phone, we’ve got a two-legged fox on the lawn.’ We had about five minutes of it going around the lawn smelling and picking up some meat and then off it went like a rocket,” Phil said.
Looking at the footage, Derbyshire Wildlife Trust confirmed that while the sighting was unusual, the fox did look healthy and adapted well to its condition. “We’ve never seen anything like this in the wild before but the animal looks relatively healthy and appears to have adapted to life on two legs,” a spokesperson for the charity said.
