Flight Takes Off Without 50 Checked-In Passengers

Airlines usually run a very streamlined system to keep track of all the passengers on each flight. Something clearly went wrong for one flight as it took off with a busload of passengers that still hadn’t made it on the aircraft.

Some passengers flying on a Go First Airways flight from Bengaluru to Delhi, India, alleged online that the plane left the airport while a bus full of people were still waiting on the tarmac to board. Several people took to Twitter to share their ordeal and tagged the airline, the minister of civil aviation and the office of the prime minister in their tweets.

Passengers complained that they boarded the bus at 5:30 a.m. but that their flight left at 6:30 a.m. without more than 50 passengers. Go First Airways responded to many individuals, urging them to share their details with an apology of “we regret the inconvenience caused.”

Mr. Kumar, a passenger that was meant to be on the flight explained his experience: “We are more than 54 plus on the bus. The boarding wasn’t completed. 6:20 a.m. was the flight and they put us on another flight Air Flight at 10 p.m. There were four buses. We were on the third bus. The passengers on the fourth bus boarded — however, the third bus, near the gate.

“I was taking off from Bengaluru to Delhi. The ground staff checked whether the flight took off or not. They said initially the flight would return, but after taking it, I missed my meetings. DGCA hasn’t responded. This is going to be my last flight on Go First.”
