Sometimes the storm is so bad that a heavy piece of patio furniture is flying in the wind rather than the commonly spotted litter or leaves.
A stormy evening in Ankara, Turkey, caused a piece of patio furniture to be flying in the air and resident Onur Kalmaz captured the unusual sight. A video taken of the incident showed the sofa flying off the balcony of a 35-storey building before falling down between other buildings and landing in the garden.
Onur saw the sofa when he took a peek outside the window of his own unit to check on his vehicle. Fortunately, the sofa landed far away from his vehicle, sparing him the car repair expenses.
No one was hurt by the flying sofa but people were startled by the heavy patio furniture being tossed in the air like a feather.
The city’s mayor, Mansur Yavas, released a social media post warning residents to be careful due to the strong winds and risk of flooding.
