“Godzilla” Lizard Visits Florida Home

If the spouse’s face is getting exhausting to wake up to every morning, you can always start the morning strong with a giant lizard plastered to the glass door.

A family from Florida waved hello to an unexpected visitor when they saw a large monitor lizard crawling on the window.

Jocelyn Penson shared a video on Facebook of the view from her son’s home in Apopka, Fla with the caption: “OMG! LOOK AT THIS! My son lives in Orlando, Fla. Really it’s Apopka, Fla. Look at what came to pay him a visit today! Looks like Godzilla to me!”

The video captures the lizard trying to enter the home by climbing the window. The efforts are unsuccessful as it falls off the window and lands on the ground.

Ron Magill, a wildlife expert with Zoo Miami, said the reptile is a water monitor lizard from Sub-Saharan Africa. Magill added: “It’s a lizard that could be anywhere between three and five feet, generally speaking.”

Magill added that the lizard was most likely a pet that left home or was abandoned in the wild by its owner. If it was abandoned, it prefers family life over the lonely wilderness.

Grandma doesn’t want to meet the new pet lizard. Pensan concluded: “Needless to say I won’t be visiting him any time soon! And it’s on the front porch!”
