Japanese Drug Dealers Forget Pot Stash in Rental Car

Drug dealers can be careless in transporting illicit drugs and a drug dealing duo was on edge after misplacing the drugs in a rental car.

Two 20-year-old men from the town of Izumo, Shimane Prefecture, rented a car and returned it back to the rental agency. After they left the place, the pair realized they were missing one of their items. They reached out to the customer service team with a sense of urgency along with a threatening request: “We forgot something in the car. We’re coming to pick it up so don’t you dare look at what’s inside of it.”

The employees didn’t obey the request since the impolite call got them more suspicious. When someone says don’t look, the temptation to take a look becomes greater. The staff did a quick search of the car and found 15 clear bags filled with cannabis. The employees notified the police: “While checking the interior of a car that has returned, we found what seemed to be drugs.”

The officers beat the two men by getting to the rental agency first and the men were told to come to the police station for further investigation. It was confirmed the bags contained 13 grams of cannabis.

The outcome of this employee dare was jail time for the offenders and the two men were placed “under arrest for possession with intent to sell.” In this particular case, one of the men plead guilty to the charges, while the other one denied having been a part of the drug deals.

Their previous history showed both of them admit to the charges of being in “possession of 2 grams of cannabis with intent to sell in the parking lot of an Izumo convenience store on March 7.”
