Being a grown-up comes with its stresses and it takes a lot of courage to go through the complexities of human life. Suffering and anxiety can be natural byproducts of facing traumatic events.
During a stressful day, staring at a dog, lying on its back with its paws stretched out, not giving a damn about anything can spur up envious thoughts. What if we can just dismiss the anxiety-inducing thoughts and eliminate the problems for a simple, freeing lifestyle? What if you can trade places with your dog?
A Japanese man, Toco, didn’t stop the wishful thinking and he paid $15,000 for a lifelike Collie dog costume in order to adopt the canine lifestyle. He chose a Collie because that’s his favorite breed. He stated: “I especially like cute quadrupedal animals,” adding, “The fact that the size difference with humans is not great was also a deciding factor.”
Toco documents his dog life on YouTube, where he recently opened up about purchasing a cage to lock himself up. Over 70,000 YouTube users have tuned in to watch his tricks.
Although a lot of dogs look for ways to escape the confining space of a cage, Toco is ecstatic to rest in the cage for a simple existence.
Toco experiences joy in the small pleasures; he attaches himself to a leash for a walk, and he looks content with swapping dog toys for head scratches. His childhood dream of transforming into a dog has been actualized and viewers on YouTube have praised him for daring to chase his unusual dream.
Time will tell if he’s a hit with the street dogs or if they dig into his flesh for an afternoon snack.
