Man Arrested for Shoplifting Meat From Walmart

Times are tough out there and people are turning toward illegal acts in order to make a quick buck. An Ohio man was arrested for a whopping seventieth time after shoplifting a cart full of meat and a suitcase from a Walmart.

The South Euclid Police Department was called by the loss prevention department at the Walmart location on Warrensville Center Road. It was reported that a shoplifter pushed a shopping cart loaded with various cuts of packaged meats and a suitcase out of the store without paying for them on January 5, 2023.

The suspect, identified as Mason Hart Jr., abandoned the shopping cart in the Walmart parking lot after its security feature locked up its front wheel, which prevented him from continuing to push the shopping cart off the store’s property.

The suspect was then spotted in the parking lot near Penn Station’s dumpster packing the meat inside the stolen suitcase. According to police, the man ended up throwing out the meat he could not fit into the stolen suitcase in the dumpster.

Officers eventually stopped the suspect at the RTA bus stop across the street from the Walmart, where the 62-year-old was arrested. Authorities also learned that Hart Jr. already had several warrants out for his arrest.

The South Euclid Police Department said that the suspect admitted to stealing the meat and often selling the stolen goods to restaurants, who pay him half the face value marked on the price tags.

Hart Jr. has been banned from all Walmart-owned stores and properties and was booked into South Euclid jail for theft.
