When leading police on a chase of a military vehicle, it’s only a matter of time before you’re caught red-handed. A Maryland man was arrested after stealing a five-ton military vehicle from a private residence and leading police on a chase down an interstate highway.
According to Harford County Sheriff’s Office, shortly after having been released from the detention center in connection with another matter, Michael Stevens II stole an M923A1 military cargo truck weighing five tons from a residence in Bel Air, Maryland.
After the owner called the police about the theft, the vehicle was spotted on a local road before making its way onto Interstate 95. The 38-year-old led authorities on a chase, resulting in multiple accidents. No injuries were reported.
Stevens finally stopped in Baltimore and fled the vehicle on foot before being apprehended. He is now facing charges of motor vehicle theft, two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of second-degree assault and failing to obey a lawful order.
