Man Butchers Deer At Home With School Children Nearby

Rifle deer hunting season has Pennsylvania hunters leaving the woods with their hands full. Lucas Smith, a man in Greensburg, got his deer and decided to put on a show at his house in front of a school. Children were in for a special viewing of animal slaughter that they didn’t sign up for and the neighbors weren’t happy about it. Save the violence for the woods.

Smith hung up the deer on a tree in his front lawn, which is the perfect view for kids from Greensburg Salem Middle School. While they hit the books, they can see the blood of an animal.

Although Smith’s actions are legal, neighbors are split on his choice to dissect the deer. One person said: “I got a grandchild just down the street, and I think I would really upset him to see a gutted deer hanging upside down in a front yard.”

Another said: “My dad and my brothers are hunters, so I have no problem with it.”

Let’s be grateful he’s at least doing it on his own property and not the neighbor’s freshly mowed lawn. “I feel terrible doing it in front of the school,” Smith said. “This is where I live. I have no other choice. I have no other trees in my yard. If I did, I’d be doing it there.”

Smith sees hunting as a hobby and he’s been doing it throughout his childhood. If he can’t find a new place, he’ll do the same spot next year. The kids will be a year older so hopefully, some of that growth and maturity shows when they get a private screening.
