A Wisconsin resident celebrated eating a Big Mac almost every day for the last 50 years.
Naturally, Don Gorske is also the Guinness World Record holder for most Big Macs eaten in a lifetime. He broke that record in 1999 for having eaten 15,490 of the McDonald’s sandwiches. He’s surpassed that number completely, with a total of 32,340 Big Macs eaten as of August 2021.
Gorske has been eating a Big Mac almost every day since May 17, 1972. The burger fan, who normally eats two of the sandwiches each day, has only missed eight days in the fifty years since he began his Big Mac journey.
To keep track of his ongoing record, Gorske writes details of all the burgers he’s eaten and makes sure to keep each individual burger carton and receipt. He also has glass cases that hold Big Mac burger cartons from different time periods, showcasing the design differences throughout the decades since his first burger.
Gorske has tried several other fast-food burgers in his lifetime, but none have captured his heart quite like the Big Mac.
“I had one Burger King Whopper in 1984 and one Topper double burger in 1984. There are a lot of other burger chains that I have never had the desire to try.
“I’ll probably be eating Big Macs every day for the rest of my life,” Gorske said.
