Man Lives in School for Two Days During Snowstorm

Getting caught in a huge snowstorm is not on most people’s list of things they want to do. A man had to break into a school to ride out the massive storm that recently hit New York State but he didn’t stop there.

The 35-year-old Waterdown, New York, resident was forced to break into a school after his car got stuck in a snowbank not too far away. He spent two days inside eating food from a concession stand, cooking in the home economics room and playing basketball in the gymnasium.

While it seems like the suspect, identified as Sean Briggs, was living out some people’s dreams, he was also accused of stealing a pickup from the General Brown High School in Brownville. His spree continued when a Jefferson County sheriff’s deputy responded to an alarm at Runnings in Watertown’s Pioneer Plaza.

The deputy found the driver and alleged he attempted to steal around $8,500 worth of firearms and hunting, trapping, camping and fishing gear from the department store.

Briggs was arrested and charged with two counts of third-degree burglary, one count each of third-degree burglary and third-degree attempted burglary, three counts of third-degree criminal mischief, and one count each of third-degree criminal mischief and possession of burglar’s tools.
