Man Tries to Trade Places With Dog to Avoid DUI Arrest

Blaming your pup for something they didn’t do was a new low for this guy. A driver in Colorado, who was pulled over for speeding, tried to swap places with his dog to avoid being arrested.

Police wrote in a Facebook post that the incident occurred on May 13, 2023, in the town of Springfield, Colorado. The officer witnessed the man moving over to the passenger seat of his vehicle before exiting the vehicle on that side.

The man, who showed signs of intoxication, told the officer that he had not been behind the wheel and that his dog had instead been driving the car. When asked about how much he had to drink that evening, the suspect fled the scene only to be caught within 20 yards.

The man was taken to the hospital to be checked out. Once everything was deemed clear, the man was arrested on suspicion of charges including driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and driving while ability impaired as well as for previous warrants for his arrest.
