Mona Lisa Attacked With Cake By Disguised Man

A man disguised as an elderly woman in a wheelchair threw a piece of cake at the glass that surrounds the Mona Lisa. His reasoning for the incident was to get people to think about the Earth for a change.

A 36-year-old man was arrested at the Louvre Museum after security guards escorted him from the property. As he was being removed, the wigged man shouted out: “Think of the Earth! There are people who are destroying the Earth! Think about it. Artists tell you: think of the Earth. That’s why I did this.”

The cake attack left a white creamy smear on the glass but there was no damage to the famous work by Leonardo da Vinci. An investigation has still been opened into the damage to cultural artifacts.

Multiple people posted videos on social media about the cake attack. One user was at the Louvre when the attack happened and provided details of the entire event. Not only did the man smear cake on the clear box surrounding the Mona Lisa but he actually attempted to break the bulletproof glass. The man also threw roses to other visitors before being tackled by security.

This isn’t the first time the Mona Lisa has been tampered with. Throughout its over 500 years in existence, the painting has been stolen and damaged and the protective glass has come in clutch on more than one occasion.
