Mystery Goats Seen Wandering Around San Francisco

Goats are very curious creatures that will roam around on their own if given the chance. At least five goats were spotted running loose through the streets of San Francisco and their origins still remain a mystery.

A video that was posted to Reddit shows a handful of goats running around near the Rincon Hill Dog Park in the South Beach, San Francisco, area while bystanders attempt to wrangle them up. Instead of listening to their pursuers, the animals hightailed it out of the area, escaping capture.

On another occasion, San Francisco’s Animal Care & Control said a caller had reported a gray goat running in traffic but the animal also fled after being chased by witnesses.

Genevieve Church, executive director of the nonprofit goat rental organization City Grazing, confirmed the animals do not belong to her group. She also believes it to be unlikely that they escaped from a similar grazing service.

Church suggested that the goats may have escaped on their way to be slaughtered since no owner has come forward looking for the animals. She said the breed of goat seen in the Reddit video is often used for meat.
