Pig on the Loose After Bear Frees It From Pen

A pig escaping from its pen is nothing groundbreaking but what if a bear had some involvement in it? A pig found running alongside a Canadian highway was found to have escaped from a farm when a hungry bear broke through a fence.

The Dewdney Animal Hospital in British Columbia, Canada, posted a video online explaining the situation. They said that a couple driving home from Mission spotted a pig trotting its way alongside the westbound lanes of Lougheed Highway.

The couple called Dewdney Animal Hospital veterinarian Adrian Walton for assistance and to find the pig’s owner. When Walton arrived, the little piggy was sedated awaiting a team from the British Columbia SPCA Maple Ridge branch.

The pig was loaded into a crate, which an SPCA truck carried to the animal hospital. There, the porker was examined for any injuries or illnesses. The 1-year-old pig, named Brenda, was found to be in good health.

The owner, Irene Francis, also stepped forward and explained that Brenda was able to escape from her pen because a bear tore through the fence while it was searching for food.
