Plane Door Falls Off, Lands in Parking Lot

When flying high in the sky, most people are hoping that everything goes right with their flight. A door from one aircraft fell off during a flight and landed in a Nevada parking lot.

Christopher Wolverton of Henderson saw the door hurtling toward the ground on November 18, 2022. He went over and captured a few photos of the door once it had landed.

“We were driving in the parking lot of the St. Rose shopping center after picking up our daughter’s glasses, when I saw the door fall from the sky, above and just beyond the Hobby Lobby there,” Wolverton said.

The 40-year-old mentioned hearing the plane go by but couldn’t actually see the aircraft in the sky. “I stopped the car and exclaimed, ‘Oh my god! I think a door just fell from that plane!'” he said. “My family thought I was seeing things.”

He added: “So on a lark, we drove around back to see if we could find where it landed, and there it was.”

Witnesses called in the incident to the nearby Henderson Executive Airport, which led the Federal Aviation Administration to complete an investigation.

The FAA reported that the piece that had literally fallen from the sky was a baggage compartment door belonging to a single-engine Textron T24. The plane had departed from Henderson Executive Airport earlier that morning.

According to the FAA, the plane did return to the airport and only had the pilot on board during the flight. No injuries or other damage were reported.
