Pearl, a pet chihuahua that belongs to Orlando resident Vanesa Semler, was crowned the title as the world’s shortest dog living by Guinness World Records.
Pearl’s height was measured by veterinarian Giovanni Vergel and she declared the dog as 3.59 inches tall. To put this into perspective, Pearl is shorter than a popsicle stick and about the same size as a dollar bill. It’s not a struggle to cram this dog anywhere.
Pearl comes from a line of small genes as her mother’s sister, Miracle Milly, previously held the same record at a height of 3.8 inches. Milly passed away in 2020, prior to Pearl’s birth.
“We’re blessed to have her,” Semler said. “And to have this unique opportunity to break our own record and share with the world this amazing news.”
Pearl may be small but she had widespread media coverage in Milan, Italy, on the set of the TV talent show Lo Show Dei Record. Viewers have been loving her pocket-size and bold personality. Vanesa told the show’s host, Gerry Scotti, that Pearl is “a bit of a diva.”
Apart from the screen time, Pearl enjoys shopping around Milan and picking up new accessories along the way. True to her name, a small lady can never have too many pearls.
