Property Owner Giving Away Tesla With Home

Who wouldn’t want a free car with a purchase of a home? A New Zealand property owner is attempting to sweeten the package by offering a free Tesla to the person who buys their home.

The property is a large seven-bedroom, five-bathroom home that has been on the market for weeks at a price of $1.8 million. To get more people talking about the house, the owner threw in the offer of a new Tesla.

Currently, house prices in New Zealand are down 10.9 percent in October alone, the eleventh consecutive month of falling. Housing prices also have seen the biggest drop in the market in 30 years. “Rising mortgage rates continue to weigh on house prices and sale activity,” Kiwibank economists said.

Dropping the price or doing something to stand out from the other 400-plus listing in this Auckland suburb were the only options. The addition of the car is being touted as a “bonus” rather than adding to the market value of the home.

According to the sales agent involved in the property, after purchasing the home, the new owner just has to pick the car’s color. The Tesla Model Y has five options and once the choice is made, the order will be shipped straight from the manufacturer.

Sounds like a pretty sweet deal if you have the extra dough to spend on this luxury home but it might be worth holding out for just a little while longer. Many economists predict that house prices still have a further to fall over the next few months.
