Sledgehammers are a tool you need to make sure you use correctly in order to avoid getting injured. Due to a problem with a number of sledgehammers, the Consumer Product Safety Commission had to announce the recall of over two million of the tools.
The sledgehammers were made by Stanley Black and Decker and sold under the DeWALT, Stanley and Craftsman brand names. Stanley Black and Decker said that it received 192 reports of the sledgehammer detaching, with two of those reports causing injuries to the head and face. Now that has to be painful.
Up to 25 models have been impacted by the recall, with the sledgehammers weighing between two pounds and 12 pounds and ranging between 14 inches and 36 inches in length. The recalled sledgehammers were sold at several retailers nationwide and online from the years November 2013 to November 2022 for $18 to $26.
The CPSC warns that users should stop using these sledgehammers. Anyone with recalled sledgehammers can go to Stanley Black and Decker’s website to request a refund.
