Steer Escapes During Senior Prank

Something almost always goes wrong during senior pranks. At one Chicago high school, a steer escaped from the area and decided to run through the town instead.

Niles police confirmed that a handful of seniors from Northridge Preparatory School were pulling a senior prank in the early hours on April 27, 2023, when chaos ensued. The prank involved bringing live animals to the school, including the steer in question, a pig and multiple chickens.

The steer managed to escape from the students and was seen running through the streets of Niles by local residents. Fortunately, police officers were able to eventually corner the steer behind some houses. It was captured with the help of an animal expert from Wagner Farms and was taken to the Hooved Animals Humane Society.

As for the pranksters, Northridge Preparatory administrators said an internal investigation has been opened but the school will not be pursuing any criminal charges. On the other hand, the Village of Niles did issue ordinance citations to the prankers for curfew violation, disorderly conduct and animal feces accumulation — not permitted and prohibited animal species.
