Truck Spills 22,000 Pounds of Fish Onto Highway

Crashes on highways have caused all types of items to be spilled onto the road. In this instance, an accident involving a tractor-trailer spilled 22,000 pounds of fish into the roadway.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation said the crash occurred early in the morning on October 18, 2022, on Interstate 95, near Exit 61 for Wade-Stedman Road, around the Godwin area.

Crews determined that someone cut the driver of the tractor-trailer off on the roadway. When he attempted to get out of the way, he overcorrected, which caused the truck to roll over and spill its contents all over the highway.

The 22,000 pounds of catfish were spilled into the northbound lanes. Crews worked to clean the fish from the highway and managed to open up the area after a few hours.

The driver was examined by the Emergency Medical Services at the scene of the accident. They were not injured during the crash.
