The taboo that surrounds periods is something that should be openly discussed more often. To keep the period conversation in the forefront, the intimate wellness brand Intimina has released a menstrual-themed breakfast cereal, complete with uterus-shaped pieces.
Each bite of Period Crunch is filled with raspberry-flavored pieces that are bright red and shaped like a uterus, which will dye the milk a pink color when eating.
The cereal box includes conversation prompts and a complete diagram of the female reproductive system so people can actually see where the uterus is located. Research shows around 82% of people cannot correctly identify the uterus’ location.
Statistics show that around 48% of people are too embarrassed to openly talk about the menstrual cycle, despite it being a completely natural experience. Around 77% of people have never talked about anything to do with menstruation at the kitchen table, which is seen as one of the most conversational places in the home.
These reasons are what drew Intimina to break the mold and design a cereal that could be a menstrual-themed conversation starter. Period Crunch is part of Intimina’s ongoing Seen + Heard period positivity campaign, which aims to normalize the visibility of menstrual wellbeing.
