Wild animals already have to make their way through life constantly in danger. They don’t need other hassles added to their everyday lives. A three-legged deer had more issues to worry about when it got its antlers tangled in some festive Christmas lights.
Wildlife officials in Oregon received a call of a three-legged deer found with holiday decorations caught on its antlers. When workers arrived, they found the animal with green stands of Christmas lights hanging from its antlers.
In order to remove the lights, wildlife rescuers had to tranquillize the deer. While doing so, officials also checked the leg wound. Luckily, the deer, known as Tripod to locals in the Dallas area, is expected to be okay.
The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife posted on Twitter about the incident. The caption for the post read: “This 3-legged buck nicknamed Tripod by Dallas, Ore. residents was not run over by a reindeer but got tangled up in lights while decking the halls like another buck recently. ODFW darted it and removed the lights. The leg wound is fully healed and the deer seems to get around OK.”
