Amusement Park Attendees Attacked by Raccoon

Who said wild animals can’t enjoy theme park rides? Guests at an amusement park in Pennsylvania were attacked by a raccoon as they were waiting in line for a ride.

The incident took place on March 29, 2024, at Hersheypark in Hershey, Pennsylvania. In a video that was shared online, the trash panda can be seen approaching those waiting in line to ride the SooperDooperLooper.

The person who recorded the video said the raccoon had grabbed a shoe from a young girl and ran away and two guests were reportedly bitten but their injuries were not known. In the video, parkgoers run and scream in different directions to get away from the wild animal.

A spokesperson for the amusement park said: “This is the first incident that we can recall of what appeared to be a frightened raccoon acting in this manner at Hersheypark. We do have extensive fencing to help prevent this type of incident from occurring.”

The spokesman added: “Out of an abundance of caution, we did transport those impacted to a local hospital for observation. While the raccoon has not been captured, it has not made another appearance in Hersheypark since the incident.”
