Hand Sanitizer Catches Fire in Parking Lot

Over the last few years, hand sanitizer has been an extremely hot seller. In a literal sense, a handful of pallets of hand sanitizer went up in flames after it caught fire in a Los Angeles parking lot.

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a call of what they initially believed to be a trash fire in a downtown parking lot. When firefighters arrived, they soon discovered the blaze actually was caused by several pallets of hand sanitizer.

“The product is confirmed to be hand sanitizer, which is clean burning,” the department wrote in an alert. “The safest operation is to allow the product to burn off while ensuring it does not damage any vehicles.”

Firefighters said they prevented the flames from spreading to nearby vehicles but advised drivers that flames could be visible from the freeway nearby. No injuries were reported by officials.
