Man Claims He Was Driving Without Tires Because of “Curse”

Driving without tires can be a risky act but it might be more dangerous when paranormal activity is to blame. A Florida man was driving a vehicle with two tires missing when he was approached by the authorities.

Andres Orjuela-Montealegre alleged that the reason he pulled over on an Interstate 75 ramp near Marion Oaks, Florida, was because paranormal activity was involved. On October 23 at about 4 a.m., Marion County Sheriff’s deputies noticed the vehicle’s lights were on and that the tires on the driver’s side appeared deflated.

Not only were the tires deflated but they were missing altogether. The 29-year-old was “driving on what remained of the rim,” the police wrote on their Facebook page.

When asked about the damage, Orjuela-Montealegre told the deputy someone had put a curse on him and that he had hit a curb too hard. The decision was “do or die” as he could’ve either driven home without the tires or set the car on fire and sleep on the median. Decisions, decisions.

After exiting the vehicle, Orjuela-Montealegre was told to complete a series of field sobriety exercises but he initially refused. He first stated that it wouldn’t prove anything and told the deputy, “that’s just you being a bald-headed white guy.”

When the deputy challenged him on how the car became so damaged, the driver blamed it on “paranormal activity.”

Things escalated further when the driver did end up taking the sobriety tests. “If you mess with me right now, let me tell you something, I’m going to break your head with a baseball bat,” Orjuela-Montealegre said.

The threats only continued and he was placed under arrest. Orjuela-Montealegre was charged with two counts of Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer, Resisting an Officer with Violence, Attempt to Deprive an Officer of Means of Protection or Communication, Corrupt by Threat against a Public Servant and Driving Under the Influence.

Orjuela-Montealegre now faces up to 25 and a half years behind bars. He is currently being held on a $27,000 bond.
