Man Wins Six “Cash for Life” Lottery Tickets Using the Same Numbers

Some people are just plain lucky. A Massachusetts man followed his intuition and decided to buy six lottery tickets with the same numbers, winning each prize.

Raymond Roberts Sr. used a winning combination was a mix of birthdays and anniversary dates that he has been playing for more than 20 years. Those numbers led him to win a big prize, $25,000 a year for life for each of his winning tickets after he matched the first five numbers in the December 14, 2022, draw.

The Fall River, Massachusetts, resident opted for the $390,000 cash option on five of his prizes, which worked out to be nearly $2 million before taxes. He also had the luxury of choosing the annuity option for the sixth ticket and will receive the first of a minimum of 20 annual payments of $25,000, before taxes.

Roberts’ win is a remarkable one considering the odds of winning the $25,000-per-year-for-life prize is 1 in 1,813,028, according to the rules of the game. The veteran told lottery officials that he plans to buy a motorcycle with some of his winnings.
