Mexican President Posts Photo of “Elf-Like” Figure

Politicians can be quite interesting characters that have a lot to say. The president of Mexico didn’t hold back in a recent post claiming that he spotted an elf-like mystical figure in a photo.

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador posted a photo online of what he claimed to be an “Aluxe,” a mischievous woodland spirit in Mayan folklore. He wrote that the photo “was taken three days ago by an engineer, it appears to be an aluxe,” adding that “everything is mystical.”

The photo, taken in the evening, shows a tree with a branch forming around what appears to look like a halo of hair, with what could be stars in the sky forming the figure’s eyes. López Obrador was adamant that the figure was the mythological woodland spirit similar to an elf.

López Obrador has always expressed deep respect for indigenous cultures and beliefs. According to traditional Mayan belief, “Aluxes” tend to be small, mischievous creatures that live in forests and fields and are prone to playing tricks on people. Some people tend to leave the beings small offerings to appease them.
