Police Dressed As Christmas Characters Carry Out Cocaine Bust

Santa Claus and his elves tracked down a few people on their naughty list when they busted a large drug ring during the holiday season.

Police in Lima, Peru, visited the Surquillo neighbourhood dressed in festive disguises to break down the door of their targeted building and arrest four suspected cocaine dealers that were running a popular drug ring.

Dubbed “The fall of the Chicago Grinch,” Santa’s little helpers went the extra mile to assist in the important operation. To gain entry to the building, one of the elves used a sledgehammer before other officers stormed in, telling the criminals to get to the ground and freeze.

Three men and one woman were arrested. When officers originally entered the building, the suspects thought that the arrest was a joke. “It being Christmas, a Santa in the street does not attract much attention, and we used this to our advantage for this operation,” police official David Villanueva said.

During the bust, officers seized a total of 6,000 small packages of cocaine paste, 104 of cocaine powder and 279 of marijuana. It’s estimated that a kilogram of cocaine paste sells for around $380 and a kilogram of powder goes for around $1,000.
