Shopping for luxury clothing and accessories can definitely leave a major hole in your pocket. Even second-hand items can leave you broke depending on the piece.
Chanel is a French luxury fashion house that has built a devoted following for its ready-to-wear, high-end products and accessories for women. While their products are rather expensive, one item in particular item confused people online.
A used Chanel “shopping basket” was listed on the Farfetch website, an online curated platform for luxury shoppers. While the basket isn’t exactly what most would expect to see in a supermarket, the price tag on the item is rather mindblowing.
The basket is covered in black leather strips and has a silver plating and also sports the recognizable interlocking Cs logo for the company. Total cost? A staggering $101,268.
The listing for the luxury basket read: “For AW14 [Autumn/Winter 2014], Chanel created its own supermarket to showcase one of the brand’s most memorable runways. Forming part of said collection is this basket bag, wrapped with the maison’s signature leather and chain-link straps.”
The basket was reportedly part of the Autumn/Winter 2014 line, with models Kendal Jenner and Stella Tennant walking down the runway with them. Three sizes were listed, including the XXL shopping basket bag.
