10,000 Turkeys Go Up in Smoke

Turkeys are the backbone of every holiday meal but some people will have to go without after a truck carrying 10,000 of them caught on fire.

The Seminole County Fire Department reported that the driver of the tractor-trailer pulled over to the side of Interstate 4 when they noticed the fire. Around 10,000 turkeys went up in smoke when the trailer caught fire at 4:40 a.m. in the Sanford, Florida, area.

The fire department ended up sharing a photo of the incident on Twitter. In the photo, the roof of the trailer is completely gone with several turkeys, once frozen, charred to a crisp.

According to firefighters, originally, the flames were extinguished but needed to be put out for a second time after the fire reignited. The cause of the fire remains unknown. Thankfully, no injuries were reported besides the fried birds.
