Survey Shows Most Unusual Items Left Behind at European Hotels

Packing to come home after a vacation can be extremely stressful and there are bound to be a few items you leave behind on accident. A new survey of European hotels discovered a number of unusual items that some vacationers left behind, including dentures, a clown costume and witchy items.

easyJet Holidays surveyed 100 European hotels in its network to figure out what the weirdest and most surprising items people have left behind over the past year. The survey found that dentures were one of the most popular things travelers forgot, with many stored in the lost and found.

One hotel reported that they found a full clown costume, complete with a wig and a red nose, left behind in one of its hotel rooms. Another interesting find was when staff at one hotel discovered thousands of old German Mark coins stashed behind the water tank of a toilet.

According to easyJet Holidays, the 10 most unusual lost and found items were dentures, witchcraft paraphernalia, prosthetic limbs, a glass eye, a grandma’s “lucky” teacup, thousands of German Marks, a clown costume, an inflatable boat, caviar and rosary beads.

“Holidays are a time for total relaxation, and we love knowing that our customers make themselves comfortable in our resorts,” Matt Callaghan, chief operating officer at easyJet Holidays, said. “Our research with our hotel partners has been interesting and some of the lost and found items are unusual, but we’re pleased to see that our customers have been enjoying themselves.”
