Toddler Gets Trapped With Toilet Seat Around Neck

Potty training is a pain in the behind with all the accidents and toddler tantrums. In extreme cases, the firefighters might have to intervene to help with the toilet trouble.

Kay Stewart, 37, was trying to potty train her two-year-old daughter Harper at their home in Wallsend, North Tyneside. Leaving the toddler alone for more than two seconds spelled disaster when she heard cries of “Mammy, I’m stuck” coming from their bathroom.

Stewart rushed to Harper to discover her toddler stuck with a toilet seat around her neck after trying to wear it. The statement piece was a challenge to pull off so her 16-year-old daughter Shannon had to call Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service (TWFRS) for assistance.

“I was so relieved when the firefighters turned up, I’d been trying everything to get it off,” Stewart said “They turned up blue lights and everything and the kids loved it, they were so calming and kept the other kids busy whilst helping Harper.”

Wallsend Community Fire Station crew members arrived at the home quickly and used small tools to remove the potty from the toddler’s head.

It remains a mystery how Harper got her head stuck around the toilet seat since it’s only the lower body that is supposed to do the work. At least, the toilet seat was able to calm down a toddler experiencing the terrible twos. The firefighters appreciated her bravery for staying calm while they complete the rescue.

Let’s hope this toddler gets potty trained without alerting more members of the fire rescue department.
