There’s no harm in having a little fun at the golf course but keeping the good times rolling to the highway can be a bad idea. A woman refused to let the foot off the pedal when she drove a golf cart on Florida’s busiest interstate while intoxicated.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a semi truck driver spotted the woman driving the golf cart in the center lane of Interstate 95. The truck driver “advised she observed the driver of the golf cart passing out while driving.”
The truck driver used her vehicle to steer the golf cart to the shoulder of the interstate. She then grabbed the keys to the golf cart as the woman attempted to flee in the vehicle. When troopers arrived at the scene, the woman argued and insisted she needed her bag. Troopers found an open bottle of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Fire Whiskey in said bag.
The 58-year-old woman was arrested on the shoulder of the highway. She now faces misdemeanor charges of disorderly intoxication in a public place and resisting an officer without violence. Interstate 95 is by far Florida’s busiest highway since it stretches up and down the East Coast so this incident could have ended up much worse.
