Alligator Blocks Plane at Florida Air Force Base

While alligators aren’t a strange sight in the Sunshine State, having one block a plane is something you don’t see every day. A 10-foot-long alligator wandered onto an Air Force base in Florida and decided to park itself on the runway, directly under the wheels of a plane.

The MacDill Air Force Base in Hillsborough County, Florida, posted photos of the gator on Facebook. In the images, the reptile can be seen on the runway after it happened to crawl between the wheels of a plane’s landing gear.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission was called to the scene to help with the situation. They were able to relocate the gator to the nearby Hillsborough River.

“Our newest toothy Airman has been relocated to a more suitable environment off base. Special thanks to FWC for the assist. They think Elvis pushed this guy away from home,” the post said. The post referenced a famously large alligator named Elvis that has been spotted on the base on numerous other occasions.
