Zoom Management Tells Employees to Return to the Office

Zoom, the video communications company that became prominent during the surge of the pandemic, has instructed employees to return back to their cubicles. Although the company has made remote work possible for many firms, they are ready to welcome their staff back to the office.

The company believes the most effective way is the structured hybrid approach and “people living within 50 miles of an office should work in person at least twice a week.”

While workers are still trying to hold on to the remote work days, some employers are trying to reel them back into the office. Based on a survey conducted by researchers at Stanford University, “about 12% of workers in the U.S., where Zoom is headquartered, were fully remote in July, while another 29% had hybrid policies.”

Although Zoom did previously say staff would be able to work remotely indefinitely, they introduced a new policy beginning in August and September with more in-person work days. Zoom believes the new policy will put the company in a “better position to use our own technologies, continue to innovate, and support our global customers.”

“We’ll continue to leverage the entire Zoom platform to keep our employees and dispersed teams connected and working efficiently,” the company said.

Zoom is experimenting with the best workplace set-ups and they are subject to heavy competition. One of its rivals, Microsoft, updated its video offerings.

Even though many employees can work from home thanks to Zoom, its own employees have to return back to the office for a set schedule.
