A Glass of Water a Day Keeps the Doctor Away

Humans can technically survive on only water but that’s supposed to be during worst-case scenarios. A Vietnamese woman is breaking the mold by claiming that she’s given up solid foods for over four decades, only surviving on the clear liquid.

Ms. Ngon’s very unique diet consists of water spiked with a few grams of salt and sugar, as well as a bit of lemon juice. She’s been repeating this “meal” for the last 41 years and it seems to have worked for her so far.

The 63-year-old claims she is in great health and is constantly full of energy for her age. She considers water vital to her health in the same way that watering is to a tree. Clearly, she’s been taking this analogy a little too literally.

Ms. Ngon used to eat rice and other solid foods until she was 21-years-old, when she started dealing with serious health problems. Her vision started deteriorating, her stomach ached all the time and she would vomit on a daily basis.

After getting blood tests taken, they revealed that she suffered from a blood disease. Although she attempted the prescribed treatment, she didn’t see much improvement with her health. That’s when she decided to make the switch to quit her medication altogether and started her water diet.

A doctor was the one who allegedly advised her to start drinking water mixed with a bit of salt and sugar and quit eating solid foods. The man told her that following this diet would help save her vision and potentially cure her blood disease.

His only qualm was that he insisted that she never reveal his name to anyone because the method was unscientific and people within the medical community would shame him for the idea. No one knows the man’s name and no one ever will. All Ms. Ngon can do is be grateful that his advice worked but the diet isn’t for everyone.

After her health improved as a result of switching to a water diet, Ms. Ngog enrolled to become a physician. She is a member of the Long An Acupuncture Association and a Yoga teacher, promoting a healthy lifestyle to anyone who will listen.
