Boxing Match in a Phone Booth

If fighters are claustrophobic, a boxing match hosted in the confined space of a phone booth loses its appeal quickly. On the flip side, if the fight gets too gruesome and requires medical intervention, the phone line is available at arms-length to dial the paramedics.

Innovation in sports leads fighters to abandon the boxing ring for a phone booth. Punch Box, a new boxing league, features two fighters battling it out in a tightly shut phone booth. The challenge comes from the limited space for the athletes to defend or run. They aggressively invade each other’s personal space until one fighter emerges as the champion.

A 30-second YouTube clip captures the Punch Box 2 match starting sequence. It’s a visual treat for combat sports fans as the video highlights an intense battle between Ivan Chugunov and Pavel Molchanov. The fighters went at each other with swift punches with their alternating hands. The beatings gained momentum and the attack came on stronger. Chugunov managed to pin Molchanov down to the corner of the booth, marking a position of defeat for Molchanov. The referee opened the door and stopped the match.

It’s amusing to witness the face-off as a passive audience, and YouTube users got a good dose of entertainment from this Phone Booth MMA. A user wrote: “Made exclusively for folks with short attention spans.”

There are possible perks of the phone booth setting. A person added: “Fighters with extremely short arms now have the upper hand.”

Innovation brings shocking combinations to life. A commentator wrote: “Mayweather ‘I want a 40x40ft phone booth and 30oz gloves.'”
