The NFL started another new season over the last month and several teams have already had plenty of ups and downs. The butt of this week’s jokes is the Miami Dolphins and punter Thomas Morstead in particular.
In the dying minutes of the game between the Miami Dolphins and Buffalo Bills, Morstead attempted a punt to start the play. Unfortunately, his teammate, Trent Sherfield, had his butt right in the way. Clearly, it was a distraction.
Due to this misplay, Buffalo was able to add two points via a safety but Miami was able to hang onto the seat of their pants to secure the 21-19 victory.
“I’ve never seen a butt punt,” Miami wide receiver Tyreek Hill said. He added, referring to Sherfield: “Next time, he’s gonna catch it with his butt cheeks because he’s got strong butt cheeks.”
Twitter had plenty of fun with the play as several puns were sent out. Many called the a “buttpunt”, which even trended on the social media platform.
One person tweeted: “What is going on in this Dolphins game??!! Did I see a buttpunt?” Another person quoted the NFL’s original tweet of the play with: “This play kicked ass! #buttpunt”
