California Man Receives Several Amazon Packages He Never Ordered

Receiving a couple of mysterious packages for no reason most would view as a plus but any more than that, some confusion must arise. A California man said he received dozens of mysterious Amazon packages at his home across six months.

John DeFiore said that the packages first began with a single envelope containing two machine screws that arrived at his home in Woodside, California. While the parcel had DeFiore’s address correct, the name on the label was addressed to a “Danial Williams.”

“Oh, somebody just made a mistake,” DeFiore said. “Maybe there’s a new neighbor named Daniel Williams.”

DeFiore eventually found a Dan Williams living in the nearby town of La Honda but he told DeFiore he didn’t know anything about the package of screws. Soon after, more and more packages arrived, which included solar panel cables, a video game console, a digital picture frame and a portable foot spa.

Eventually, even opening the packages got to be too much. DeFiore said he and his wife, Jan, eventually stopped opening the packages and simply sent them back.

Later on, his Amazon Prime credit card was charged $459 for a sofa that showed up at his home. He said his attempts to get a refund were difficult since the sofa wasn’t purchased on his Amazon account. More fraudulent charges soon followed, totaling about $1,000.

DeFiore finally did receive a reply from Amazon that said the issue was being addressed and his bank agreed to reverse the charges. Amazon was also able to close the account behind the mysterious packages but didn’t provide any additional details to DeFiore.
