A gift card can be a great gift for someone to use on a future gift, as long as it’s for the right store or product. An Illinois family messed up big time after they stocked up on $10,000 worth of gift cards to Disney+ instead of Disney parks.
Two grandparents were in charge of planning a Christmas trip to a Disney park for 16 family members. They purchased $10,000 worth of gift cards to buy park tickets and restaurant reservations but managed to mess up big time. Instead of buying tickets to Disney parks, they bought gift cards for the Disney+ streaming service.
A woman named Andie shared her family’s story on TikTok, explaining that the trip was originally supposed to happen in 2020 but the COVID-19 pandemic got in the way. They were finally able to take the trip for Christmas 2023 when they realized the gift cards were actually for Disney+.
Fortunately, it all turned out alright in the end. Disney did end up reaching out to family and exchanged the streaming gift cards for park cards.
