Father Gets Locked in Chicken Coop by Son

Strange emergency calls aren’t too out of the ordinary but they can get a bit weird every once in a while. In this instance, a dad had to call emergency services after he was accidentally locked in a chicken coop by his son.

The Shaker Heights Fire Department in Ohio got the unusual call for service and actually did arrive at a home to find a man locked in a chicken coop. Michael Scalise had been accidentally locked in the space by his three-year-old son.

At the time, Scalise was helping to get eight hens back into the family’s chicken coop when he left keys in the door. When he looked back, he saw his son Sam from outside the coop turn the keys in the lock to the door and then remove them from the lock, leaving him trapped inside.

Naturally, Scalise tried to get his son to use the keys to open the door but it didn’t work. He later called the Shaker Heights Fire Department non-emergency number for assistance. Scalise told the fire department he was locked in the chicken coop and his son wasn’t able to unlock the door on his own.

According to Scalise, he told his son to place the keys in his pocket until the fire rescue crews arrived but his son said that the keys fell out of his pocket and between two rocks. Classic.

Fortunately, first responders arrived at the scene and were able to locate the keys. Scalise was freed from the coop and it’s likely that Sam received a stern talking to.
