Florida Looking to Ban Dogs From Sticking Heads Out of Car Windows

While sitting as a passenger in a vehicle, dogs always get the itch to hang their heads out of the window. This natural instinct is something they enjoy so of course there’s always that one person looking to take the fun away.

Florida politicians are now looking into banning dogs from sticking their heads out of car windows. State Senator Lauren Book, a Democrat who represents parts of South Florida, introduced the animal welfare bill last week.

In the bill, owners would be prohibited from allowing their dog to “extend its head or any other body part outside a motor vehicle window while the person is operating the motor vehicle on a public roadway.” Looks like the windows will be locked up tight if the wrong passenger is inside.

If the bill, SB 932, is passed, dogs would also need to be put in a harness or in some sort of pet seatbelt while traveling in a vehicle. No more wandering around the backseat anymore.

While it definitely has some controversial moments, the bill is also looking to help animals in other ways. It would also seek to ban the sale of rabbits in March and April, require the Department of Law Enforcement to create a public list of convicted animal abusers and prohibit cat owners from declawing their pets.
